Description et habitat

  • Arbrisseau originaire d'Amérique du Sud et d'Amérique Centrale (Inde, Australie), aux petites fleurs blanches ou roses poussant à l’aisselle des feuilles opposées

Histoire et tradition

  • Plante originaire des Départements d’Outre Mer, très populaire dans les Caraïbes, en Guadeloupe, Martinique et Guyane, utilisée pour traiter la toux et les « refroidissements »
  • Son usage traditionnel est largement répandu, son nom créole « twa tass » signifie qu’il faut en boire trois tasses pour obtenir une bonne efficacité
